Necklaces made from linked bead pendants with chain
This style of necklace is based on hanging linked sequences of beads on to usually chunky chain. This is similar to the charm bracelet concept, where several different types of pendant are hung off chain, sometimes random or non-repeating,see top left. More typically, there is one large or longer central pendant, with a symmetrical array of pendants of decreasing length or decreasing size of bead out from the centre, see main picture. The design is also sometimes enhanced by adding coloured cord or ribbon, so that there is a central section of chain with pendants, and side pieces with a softer more comfortable material.
The main techniques involved are turning loops, and chain linking. You should first know about turning loops before reading on, so refer to these articles first

Once you know how to do this, then all that's different is that for the top of the linked sequence of beads, you have to adopt a slightly different approach to making a loop. For a start, you need to trim the pin a bit longer before turning. This enables you to make a larger loop, enough to accomodate the chain inside the finished loop. Then turn the loop halfway, to leave a sort of coat hanger effect. Hook the chain on to the loop, and then complete the turning. Also, ensure for each pendant that the chain does not get twisted, otherwise some pendants may hang up, and some down. Sometimes, this can be done to deliberate effect, and works very well with small beads, where you can even hang more than one bead off the same chain link, and if you use small chain you will get a cluster effect. Generally, chunkier chain is preferred, since it is easier to attach pendants to larger links. You can also decide whether to space the pendants so that they are not touching, using every other link, or again deliberately put them on adjacent links for a more bunched effect.
